About this piece

In Sanskrit, Anahata (the heart chakra) literally means “sound produced without touching two parts.” The name signifies the state of freshness that appears when we are able to become detached and to look at the different and apparently contradictory experiences of life with a state of openness and expansion. At the level of the 4th chakra, these two opposing forces can be integrated without confrontation to produce the “unstuck sound” which is the sound of the celestial realm.

I created this piece without knowing any of this back story. I wanted to title it something related to the heart chakra, and when I came across the true meaning of Anahata, I got full body chills. In my piece, two crystalline objects merge in the heart center, and the light produced takes us into a higher state of consciousness, of oneness, straight into the heart of the heart.

The ancient wisdom accessible to all of us speaks to me through my art, and I’m not even fully conscious of it until it’s done. What a wild way the universe has chosen to communicate with me… my art has been my greatest teacher, bringing me closer to understanding my true self with every piece I create.
