Imagine the Wind and the Sun are in a contest to see who can get a passing traveler to take off his coat. The Wind blows so hard, the birds cling to the trees. But the harder the wind blows, the tighter the shivering man clings to his coat.

The Sun then comes out from behind a cloud and warms the air. The man on the road unbuttons his coat as the sun grows brighter and brighter. Soon the man feels so hot, he takes off his coat and sits down in a shady spot.

"How did you do that?" said the Wind.

"It was easy," said the Sun, "I lit the day. Through gentleness I got my way."
